Performance Suspension SpecialistsWhen it comes to setting up your car to perform, or looking after your daily driver, suspension is one of the most critical components—and often overlooked. Good suspension that’s properly set up is what keeps your car connected to the road and is one of the most important things to get right, whether you’re building your car for daily driving or the race track. Wheels and Tyres TooIf suspension is figuratively what keeps you connected to the road, wheels and tyres are literally what keeps your car on the road. If your car needs new tyres—performance, off-road or just great for around town—we can help. With experience in both the mining industry and motorsports, we’ll help you figure out exactly what wheel and tyre combination is right for your application, and get them fitted. We’re also happy to tackle more unique wheel and tyre jobs, such as 3 piece wheel rebuilding—including supply and installation of wider lips, barrels and bolt kits. |

Proper suspension is better than chopped springs.
One of the cheapest, fastest ways to get your budget beater street car low, is to chop the springs. While we can’t say we’ve never done it, we definitely don’t recommend it. Chopped springs aren’t great for performance, handling or getting longevity out of the rest of your suspension components. Coilovers (or a proper aftermarket divorced spring and shock) are a way better bet.
Here at Basely Automotive, we know a thing or two about setting up cars right, to outperform the factory while looking a whole lot better. For chasing stance and going as low as you can, we’ve figured out the right way to do that too. There’s cutting, trimming and sometimes even subframe alteration required to get your car to drive half decent while completely slammed. If you want to skip the part where your car handles like a gokart with fixed axles on the street (as in, badly), and get straight to the part where it looks awesome and drives better than stock—give us a call.
Signs you might be due for new suspension.
As cars get older, they wear. We all know that. What isn’t obvious, is just how much worn suspension can affect the way your car drives, handles and most importantly—stops. You’ll often not even notice suspension starting to go until you really notice; going over a bump in the road or speed hump and feeling clunking, or excessive bouncing. Many rattles, shakes and vibrations are also caused by old, past-their-expiration-date suspension.
Replacing old, worn out shock absorbers makes an instant, very noticeable difference to your car. It’ll go a long way to helping it drive like new, from the way it goes over bumps to the way it goes around corners and stops. Replacing failed and overly worn bushes and ball joints can also make a huge difference to your car's handling; making it more responsive, direct and quiet. You’ll even find that on really worn suspension, your car will be difficult to get a proper wheel alignment, which leads to premature tyre wear and early replacement.
